International Development Secretary, Hilary Benn MP, was attacked last night by comedian Stephen Colbert, the host of the popular Colbert Report, which satarizes right-wing punditry. Colbert mocked Benn as being soft on terrorism because Benn, in a recent speech in New York, admonished Americans for using the phrase 'War on Terror.'

2007 will mark a historic changing of the guard, as both Tony Blair and John Prescott will step down as Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. Although Gordon Brown, the Chancellor of the Exchequer is widely expected to take the top job, the race to be his deputy is wide open.
